Legacy

Legacy

At the beginning of June we spent a few days in Washington, D.C. celebrating my parent's 50th wedding anniversary. We spent time with family and checked out some of D.C. We visited the Bible Museum and toured the White House. We visited my Dad’s church, the one his parents founded in the early 60’s and was Trump’s chosen place to show up on the Day of Prayer for the President. We saw huge memorials to the founding fathers of the United Stated. We walked by buildings that house the workings of the US government. We learned more about the history of the Bible and saw the progress of translation. We watched our kids interact. The time with family was amazing, the sights were very neat, but what we brought home was a challenge to leave a legacy that matters.

Everyone leaves a legacy and that legacy is built by our choices and priorities. We speak into the next generation by our lives. Our choices impact those around us as do our words. As we head to Canada for home assignment, we are asking God for opportunities to share our vision, to talk about the things that matter and the choice to follow God wholeheartedly. We want to have discussion about the Gospel and why it’s Good News. We want to share our story of God’s faithfulness and remind all of us that following Jesus is the best choice we can make. We want to hear stories of God’s work in lives, families, and communities wherever we go. We want to talk about how every choice matters for eternity. We are excited about this time!
This weekend is graduation at Moody Aviation, and it is fun to celebrate with these young people who were just starting maintenance training when we arrived. Every class has its own strengths and challenges, and it is fun to see how those unfold over their years at Moody. We are excited about the number of students in this class that plan to move forward in missionary aviation. We enjoyed having Dr. Jobe, the new president of Moody Bible Institute, here in Spokane for graduation weekend. Knowing that we were leaving for six months made the weekend bittersweet.

In June we also visited Pennsylvania and spent time at Puzzletown Road Bible Church, the first of our visits to supporters over the next months. We had an amazing time with the people there, sharing what God is doing. We were blessed to hear what God is doing there and the passion of people to see Jesus made known in the world.
